Editorial Design

The Brief
Howden’s Professional Sport team commissioned TenSevenNine to elevate the Men’s European Football Injury Index – an annual data-led report tracking injury trends across Europe’s top five leagues – into a standout asset in the market. The ambition was to transform a dense, technical dataset into a premium publication that would strengthen Howden’s thought leadership, increase visibility across global media and support commercial positioning in the competitive sports and insurance sectors.

The Solution
TenSevenNine applied editorial design expertise to reshape the 144-page 2022/23 injury index into an engaging, accessible and visual narrative. Through bold data visualisation, thoughtful typography and high-impact layouts, the report made complex insights easy to grasp for key decision-makers and media audiences alike – amplifying Howden’s brand as a strategic authority in sport risk and data-driven insurance solutions.

The Results
The relaunched Injury Index achieved significant commercial reach and impact. It was featured by major global outlets such as Bloomberg, BBC, ESPN and The Times, dramatically amplifying Howden’s visibility among prospective clients and partners. The report also won the DataIQ Award for Best Data Story or Data Visualisation 2024, reinforcing its credibility and extending its value beyond a single campaign into an ongoing market differentiator.
