Men’s European football injury index 2022/23
What we did
Editorial Design
As seen on Bloomberg, BBC, ESPN and The Times, the report, designed for the Howden Professional Sport team is Howden’s 3rd annual Men’s European football injury index covering the 2022/23 season, and has been gaining global recognition since its launch in November 2023.
This 144-page hard back report marked the first major project undertaken across the business following the new Howden brand guidelines, and plays heavily on the inaugural winter FIFA Men’s World Cup, which resulted in an overall increase in injury severity for the players involved from the top five European leagues.
Despite the data-heavy content, the design presents the story in an engaging and accessible way, highlighting key takeaways through bold, compelling graphics and thoughtful typography.
The report was also awarded ‘Best Data Story or Data Visualisation’ 2024 award at the prestigious DataIQ Awards, which honours both companies and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in the data industry.
The report was designed by Kevin alongside designer and data viz guru, Bash Khan, during his time as Lead Designer at Howden.
Kevin was instrumental in the success of the 2022-23 Howden Men’s European Football Injury Index. His innovative design work brought key data to life, helping us highlight the rise in injuries across Europe’s top five leagues. He supported the team throughout, contributing to a report that reached an estimated one billion people globally.”
